Two one of a kind crescent moon pendants in recycled sterling silver, each with a hand-built cascade of chains, stars and sapphires falling from the moon's face. Both carry a white sapphire and a black sapphire. One ends in a green sapphire, the other in a blue. Choose your variation in the options. Inspiration & Story

The Amas Veritas belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a realm built from witchcraft, folklore, natural oddities and the strange beauty of things we keep.

Amas veritas is Latin: you love truth. Or, read the way it is meant here, love that is true. It is the name for the thing you write down when you are asked to describe someone impossible, half as a joke and half because you mean it. The list nobody could ever match. And then, eventually, absurdly, somebody does.

She is deeply whimsygoth, and not the restrained version of it. This is the maximal end: rosemary above the sink, candles burning at three in the afternoon, a house full of women who solve things at the kitchen table, and jewelry that moves and clinks and refuses to sit politely still.

The moon's face is fully sculpted, eyes half open, mouth caught mid-word, an expression that lands somewhere between knowing and mildly unimpressed. From her tip and her chin fall two chains at different lengths, hung with small eight-pointed stars and three sapphires. A white sapphire sits high in a star. A black sapphire hangs lower. And at the very bottom, on the longest chain, a rose cut oval sapphire in green or in blue, set in a hand-formed bezel.

The movement is the entire point. At 53 mm she is long enough that the chains swing independently, so she never hangs the same way twice and she catches light as you walk. This is also why these are one of a kind: that cascade was built by hand at the bench, link by link, and there is no way to make two of them identical even if we wanted to.

Rose cut is worth knowing about. Instead of a pointed pavilion, a rose cut has a flat back and a faceted dome on top, which is how gemstones were cut before modern machinery. The light behaves differently. Rather than sharp fire, you get a soft, watery glow with real depth in it, and you can see straight into the stone. It looks antique because in a sense it is.

Everything is made in our own atelier in the Netherlands, in real recycled 925 sterling silver. No plating, no filled, no vermeil. These are One of a Kind creations. There are two of them, they were built at the bench rather than designed in 3D, and they will not be made again in this form. Something similar may appear one day in a different arrangement, with different stones, hanging a different way, but not this. Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, shaping, soldering, stone setting, bezel forming, blackening and polishing.

Significant benchwork went into the moving elements. Every chain, jump ring, star and drop was cut, formed, linked and soldered by hand at the bench, and each bezel was made around its own stone. The cascade is the reason these took as long as they did and the reason they cannot be duplicated.

At 53 mm she is a proper hero piece, so wear her as the anchor and build everything else around her. Whimsygoth styling is maximal by nature and she can carry it: layer her over a high neckline, mix her with a locket and something inherited and something found in a bin at a market. Nothing needs to match.

Give her room to move. On a longer chain the cascade swings freely and reads at its best, and against black knitwear the blackened detail in the moon's face really shows. The green variation runs warmer and sits well with mixed metals and gold. The blue runs colder and stays sharp in an all-silver stack.

What does One of a Kind mean?
It means exactly what it says. This creation exists once. It was built at the bench rather than designed in 3D, even though it can have 3D designed elements, and it will not be remade in this form. Something related may appear later in a different arrangement, but not this exact piece.

There are two pendants here. Which one am I buying?
Whichever variation you select in the options above. Both carry a white sapphire and a black sapphire. The difference is the large rose cut stone at the bottom: one is green, one is blue. They are two separate creations and each can only be bought once.

What is a rose cut gemstone?

Do the parts really move?

Can you make me one of these?

What is a black sapphire?
Sapphire in an opaque or near-opaque black, coloured by high iron and titanium content. It is genuine sapphire, the same mineral as blue, and it reads as a properly matte dark stone rather than a sparkly one, which is exactly why it works here.

How big is 53 mm?
Roughly the length of your top two thumb joints. This is a statement pendant, not a subtle everyday piece, and it is meant to be seen.

Does a chain come with this pendant?
Not as standard. The price is for the pendant, which arrives with a faux leather cord. A sterling silver chain can be added as an option or bought separately, and we would recommend a longer one so the cascade has room to swing.

Will sterling silver tarnish?
Yes, all sterling silver does. Normal reaction to air and skin, not a fault. The darkened recesses in the moon's face are intentional, so light tarnish tends to suit her.
