Inspiration & Story

Veritas Stellare belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a realm built from witchcraft, folklore, natural oddities and the strange beauty of things we keep.

These are the sister piece to Veritas Lunare. Same star, same eight sharp points, same stone at the centre. On the pendant she swings from the tip of the moon. Here there are two of her, and she sits still and close to your face where the light finds her constantly.

The name is Latin: veritas is truth, stellare is of the stars. The moon is the one who watches over you. The stars are the ones you steer by. Small, distant, absolutely reliable.

They are unmistakably whimsygoth, but the quiet end of it. Whimsygoth is usually maximal, all velvet and layered silver and herbs drying in the kitchen, and it needs small anchoring pieces to hold the whole thing together. This is one of those. She goes with a stack of rings and three necklaces and a coat you found in a bin at a market, and she also goes to a job interview without saying a word about your Sunday tarot habit.

The star is sculpted with eight defined points, not a soft rounded blob, so she reads as an actual star at a tiny scale. Each point is filed sharp by hand after casting, which is fussy work and is exactly why they look like this. The gemstone sits in a raised setting at the centre, lifted so it catches light rather than sinking into the silver.

Because these are Made to Order, the gemstone is personisable. The pair shown wears white sapphire, cold and bright. A black stone turns them into something much sharper and more gothic. Green pulls them toward the herb garden. Blue makes them look like proper little night stars.

Everything is made in our own atelier in the Netherlands, in real recycled 925 sterling silver. No plating, no gold filled, no vermeil, which matters more with earrings than almost anything else you own, because they sit against skin all day. Questions & Answers

Is this a pair or a single earring?
This price is for a pair. Contact us personally if you would like a single piece earring. 

How big is 8 x 6 mm on the ear?
Small. Roughly the size of a grain of rice, so they read as a tiny point of light rather than a statement. Big enough that the star shape is clearly readable, small enough to wear every single day and forget about.

What do star earrings symbolise?
Stars are usually read as guidance, hope and direction, the fixed points you navigate by. In celestial jewelry they pair naturally with the moon, which is why these share their star with our Veritas Lunare pendant.

Can I choose a different gemstone?
Yes. The white sapphire shown is the example, not the only option. Pick your stone at checkout. A dark stone makes them noticeably more gothic, a coloured one shifts the whole mood.

Is white sapphire a real gemstone?
Yes. White sapphire is corundum, the same mineral family as blue sapphire, just without the colouring elements. It reads clear and bright with a softer sparkle than diamond, and at 9 on the Mohs scale it is genuinely tough enough for daily wear.

Are sterling silver earrings good for sensitive ears?
For most people, yes. Sterling silver is 92.5 percent silver alloyed with copper and contains no nickel, and nickel is the usual reason ears react. If you react to nearly everything, solid gold is the safer route and we can make these in 14K or 18K on request.

Can I sleep in these?
Physically, yes, they are small and flat enough. We would still say take them out. Studs worn permanently press into the lobe and posts bend over time, and a bent post is the number one way small earrings get lost.

Will sterling silver earrings tarnish?
Yes, all sterling silver does. It is a normal reaction to air and skin, not a fault. Earrings tarnish more slowly than most pieces because they get less contact with lotions and perfume. Your upkeep document explains how to bring the shine back.

Can these be made in gold?
Yes. We work in 14K and 18K gold as well as sterling silver. Message us and we will quote it.

How long does a made to order piece take?
Between 8 and 12 weeks. They are cast, set, filed and finished specifically for you after you order, by two people, by hand.
