Inspiration & Story

Veritas Stellare belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a realm built from witchcraft, folklore, natural oddities and the strange beauty of things we keep.

Veritas is truth. Stellare is of the stars. The moon is the one who watches over you. Stars are the ones you steer by. Small, far away, entirely reliable.

They share their star with our Veritas Lunare pendant, the one that swings loose from the tip of the crescent. Here there are two of her, sitting still and close to your face where light finds them constantly.

These belong to the quiet end of whimsygoth. That aesthetic runs maximal by nature, all velvet and stacked silver and rosemary drying above the sink, and it needs small anchoring pieces or the whole thing tips into costume. This is one of those anchors. They work with three necklaces and a coat you found in a bin at a market, and they also go to a job interview without saying one word about your Sunday tarot habit.

This pair wears white sapphire, the coldest and clearest stone we set. At this scale that matters more than it sounds. A tiny stone has to actually catch light or it just reads as a dark dot, and clear white does the most work in the least space. The setting is raised rather than flush so the stone sits proud and picks up whatever light is going.

The star itself is sculpted with eight defined points, and every one of those points is filed by hand after casting. It is fussy, slow work, and it is the only reason a star this small still looks like a star instead of a soft cast blob.

Made in our own atelier in the Netherlands, in real recycled 925 sterling silver. Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, filing, soldering, stone setting and polishing.

Every point of every star is filed and finished by hand, so the shape stays sharp instead of softening the way cast stars usually do.

How big is 8 x 6 mm on the ear?
Small. Roughly the size of a grain of rice, so they read as a tiny point of light rather than a statement. Big enough that the star shape is clearly readable, small enough to wear every day and forget about.

Is white sapphire a real gemstone?
Yes. White sapphire is corundum, the same mineral family as blue sapphire, just without the colouring elements. It reads clear and bright with a softer sparkle than diamond, and at 9 on the Mohs scale it is genuinely tough enough for daily wear.

Are sterling silver earrings good for sensitive ears?
For most people, yes. Sterling silver is 92.5 percent silver alloyed with copper and contains no nickel, and nickel is the usual reason ears react. If you react to nearly everything, solid gold is the safer route and we can make these in 14K or 18K on request.

Can I sleep in these?
Physically, yes, they are small and flat enough. We would still say take them out. Studs worn permanently press into the lobe and posts bend over time, and a bent post is the number one way small earrings get lost.

Will sterling silver earrings tarnish?
Yes, all sterling silver does. It is a normal reaction to air and skin, not a fault. Earrings tarnish more slowly than most pieces because they get less contact with lotions and perfume. Your upkeep document explains how to bring the shine back.
