This ring is a size 20 and the size cannot be altered. She is already made, set with a baguette cut amethyst, blackened and finished by hand. Inspiration & Story

Midnight Margarita belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a realm built from witchcraft, folklore, natural oddities and the strange beauty of things we keep.

She is named for the kind of night you already know about. Kitchen table, far too late, nobody entirely sober, everybody honest. Someone's crisis being solved by people who turned up without being asked. That is the warm heart of whimsygoth, the part that gets overlooked in favour of the spooky bit. Herbs above the sink, candles lit in the afternoon, a tarot deck gone soft at the corners.

The same moon sits on both sides of the stone, both facing the same way, so she reads as a sequence rather than a pair. The moon before and the moon after, with something held in the middle. There is the version of you from before it happened and the version from after, and the moon was up there for both, entirely unbothered. Each crescent has a sculpted face, eyes half open, expression landing between serene and mildly amused. They are the same moons that hang on our Veritas Lunare pendant.

This one wears a baguette cut amethyst, and it changes everything about her. A baguette is a long rectangular step cut, straight parallel facets instead of the scattered ones on a brilliant, which gives you clean flashes of colour rather than fireworks. On amethyst that reads dusky and soft and properly purple, like light through a bottle. It is the full 90s crystal-shop fantasy, and next to blackened silver moons it goes exactly where you want it to go.

We blackened the recesses of both moons and brought the high points back up by hand. That is what lets two faces this small still read as faces from across a table.

Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, shaping, soldering, stone setting, blackening and polishing.

Both moons are finished by hand, faces darkened and high points brought back up, and every prong was closed over the stone at the bench by us.

Style & Wear

A celestial statement ring for whimsygoth, kitchen witch and moon-obsessed baddies, and a genuinely good alternative engagement ring.

The two moons make her wide across the finger and low in profile, so she sits flat and does not catch on jumper sleeves the way a raised solitaire does. Because both moons run the same direction, she has a clear left to right movement, and she looks best with the sequence reading away from you. That also makes her a proper stacking ring. A plain band either side and the moons frame it. Worn alone she reads as one small stretch of night sky.

Purple amethyst against blackened silver is a warm combination rather than a cold one, so she sits happily next to gold and mixed metals instead of demanding an all-silver stack.

What does Ready to Send mean?
It means this exact ring is already made and finished. No production time. She ships within 5 working days instead of the 8 to 12 weeks a made to order piece takes.

What size is this ring?
Size 20, and only size 20. She is already finished, so this one cannot be made bigger or smaller. Every other size is available through the made to order version.

Can this ring be resized?
Not this one. The two moons run around a large part of the band, so there is very little plain metal to cut into, and resizing would distort the design. Order the made to order version in your own size instead.

Can I change the gemstone?
Not on this one. The amethyst is already set and cannot be swapped. The made to order version lets you choose your own stone.

Is this one of a kind?
No. She is a Ready to Send variation of a made to order design, so this ring can be made again in other sizes and stones. For something genuinely singular, look at our one of a kind creations.

Why are there two moons on this ring?
They are the same moon twice, both facing the same way, with the stone between them. It reads as a sequence rather than a pair: the moon before and the moon after, and whatever happened in between. Two-stone rings usually mean two people. This one is about one person and a moment that changed something.

What is a baguette cut gemstone?

Is amethyst hard enough for an engagement ring?
Honest answer. Amethyst sits at 7 on the Mohs scale. Fine for a ring you wear regularly, but an engagement ring gets worn every day for decades, and over that timeframe amethyst will pick up fine scuffs on the top facet. It can be repolished. If you want the toughest option in this design, sapphire is a 9 and will outlast you. If you love amethyst, wear amethyst, just go in knowing.

Does amethyst fade in sunlight?
It can, over long exposure. Amethyst is one of the stones that will pale if it sits in strong direct sun for extended periods, which is a very slow process and not something a normal day outdoors will do. Do not leave her on a sunny windowsill for months and she will be fine.

Will sterling silver tarnish?
Yes, all sterling silver does. Normal reaction to air and skin, not a fault. The darkened recesses on the moons are intentional, so light tarnish tends to suit her. Your upkeep document explains how to clean her without scrubbing out the blackening.

Can this ring be made in gold?
Yes, through the made to order version. We work in 14K and 18K as well as sterling silver, and for something you plan to wear daily for fifty years that is genuinely worth a conversation. Message us and we will quote it.
