Inspiration & Story

The Moth Shadowbox Ring belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a world inspired by occult symbolism, ritual objects, natural specimens and the quiet magic of preserved curiosities.

This ring is designed as a shadowbox: a small display case worn on the hand. Beneath a clear quartz stone lies a fully hand-carved and hand-engraved lunar moth, etched directly into the silver. The quartz acts as a lens, revealing the carving below while allowing glimpses of the skin beneath the ring to remain visible, creating depth, shadow and intimacy.

Moths are creatures of the liminal, drawn to light yet bound to darkness. The lunar moth in particular symbolizes intuition, transformation and nocturnal guidance. Preserved beneath quartz, the moth feels like a studied specimen: protected, observed and suspended in time.

The ring band is sculpted to resemble bones, reinforcing the anatomical and ritual nature of the piece. Together, bone, insect and crystal form a composition rooted in death, metamorphosis and occult reverence.

Only a single ring exists, making this piece a true One of a Kind artifact from the Curiosity Cabinet.

Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: sawing, filing, shaping, soldering, hand carving, hand engraving, stone setting, blackening and polishing. No 3D designing or printing was used in the creation of this piece.

Every element including the lunar moth carving, shadowbox setting and bone-inspired band is finished by hand to ensure depth, contrast and an aged cabinet-specimen character.
