Inspiration & Story
Custos Noctis belongs to the Nox Ex Libris collection, a realm built from books, medieval revival, knightcore and the kind of fantasy you disappear into on purpose.
The name is Latin: custos is guard or keeper, noctis is of the night. Guardian of the night, which is the correct name for this weapon, because a halberd was never a battlefield hero's weapon. It was carried by people standing at doors: city guards, palace guards, the ones on the wall at night. It is a weapon of position rather than glory, and the last places it survived in ceremonial use are exactly the ones with something to protect.
A halberd is genuinely three weapons welded onto one pole, which is why it dominated European infantry for two centuries. An axe blade to cut, a spike on the reverse to punch through plate armour, and a spear point on top to hold cavalry at distance. One person could deal with an armoured rider, an infantryman and a wall of horses with the same tool. It is a brutally practical object and there is nothing decorative about the reasoning behind it.
Ours is decorated anyway. The axe head is pierced with quatrefoils, the four-lobed shape lifted from gothic window tracery, and the edges are finished with small trefoil finials like the top of a spire. That combination is not invented. Ceremonial and parade halberds were routinely pierced and engraved, because a weapon standing beside a door all day is also a statement about who lives behind it. The haft is twisted and banded, blackened down in the grooves and polished back on the high points so it reads as gripped and used rather than freshly cast.
One honest adjustment. A real halberd's haft runs to around two metres, and at that proportion this pendant would hang absurdly long and sit badly on the chest. We shortened it deliberately, so the axe head keeps its presence and the whole thing still wears comfortably. If you are the sort of person who checks proportions against reference plates, you were going to notice, and we would rather tell you than have you wonder.

Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, piercing, shaping, soldering, blackening and polishing.
The quatrefoils are pierced right through the axe head and cleaned up by hand from both sides, since openings this small show every rough edge from behind as well as in front. The blackening was worked into the twist of the haft and the recesses of the tracery and polished back across the raised surfaces, which is what gives a pendant this narrow any depth at all.

At 55 x 29 mm she hangs as a long vertical with a broad head, so she draws a line down the chest rather than sitting as a shape. That makes her surprisingly easy to wear for something this specific: she lengthens a neckline instead of filling it and sits flat under a collar.
At 3.94 g she is genuinely light for her size, because the pierced quatrefoils remove metal while the frame carries the structure. She works on a fine chain as well as a heavy one, which is unusual for a pendant this long.
She has no stone, so she is entirely metal and will not fight a coloured pendant beside her in a stack. Against black, the pierced openings read as voids. Against a pale shirt, they read as windows.
