Inspiration & Story

The Overgrown Cemetery Ring belongs to the Curiosity Cabinet collection, a realm built from witchcraft, folklore and the mysterious beauty of forgotten places.

She holds the atmosphere of an old cemetery slowly taken back by the field. The band blossoms into sculpted leaves that wrap and climb around the centre stone like creeping growth over a gravestone, layered and deliberately untidy. Nothing here is neat, because nothing about an overgrown grave is neat. The blackening sits down in the leaf veining and the raised surfaces were polished back by hand, which is what keeps each leaf separate instead of letting the whole thing collapse into one grey mass.

This one wears an amethyst, and purple in a graveyard is more literal than it sounds. Violets were one of the most common flowers planted and left on Victorian graves, standing for faithfulness and remembrance precisely because they come back on their own every year without anyone tending them. Purple growing through stone is exactly what this ring is about.

Amethyst also carries a much older story in its name. The Greek amethystos means not drunken. The ancient Greeks believed the stone protected the wearer from intoxication, and they carved drinking cups from it, presumably in hope rather than expectation. Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, shaping, soldering, stone setting, engraving, blackening and polishing.

Every leaf, branch and setting was finished by hand to create the depth, contrast and natural feel of botanical overgrowth. Flat leaves are easy. Leaves that look like they grew there are not.
