Inspiration & Story

The Bloody Flail Pendant belongs to the Nox Ex Libris collection  a realm shaped by medieval fantasy, bookish symbolism and the dramatic aesthetics of knightcore and gothic storytelling.

This pendant recreates a medieval flail, a weapon historically used by armored warriors in close combat. Unlike many weapon-inspired pendants that remain static, this piece functions like a true miniature flail. The striking ball is connected to the handle by a small chain, allowing the piece to move naturally and giving the pendant a dynamic, almost living character.

Set into the flail’s striking head are four faceted garnets, placed like droplets of blood scattered across the weapon after battle. Garnet has long been associated with warriors and protection. In medieval folklore the gemstone was believed to protect travelers, grant courage in battle and symbolize life force and resilience.

Together the moving weapon form and blood-red gemstones transform the pendant into a fantasy relic part armory artifact, part talisman from a story yet to be written.

Crafted using in-house digital and traditional techniques: 3D designing, 3D printing, casting, sawing, shaping, soldering, stone setting, engraving, blackening and polishing.

Every sculptural element including the flail handle, chain connection and gemstone settings is finished by hand to ensure movement, contrast and depth within the weapon design.
