"When developing ideas for this piece, I knew I wanted to incorporate the two motifs that define my personal style, moths and gothic architecture. A lot of my personal jewellery collection is made up of these motifs but none that combine the two together.

My main inspiration came from the Clymene Moth, one of my favourites. It’s most often seen with its wings closed, showing off it's unique markings, but I chose to depict it with open wings instead. The lower wings feature small, distinct black dots, which I reimagined as gothic architectural shapes. To keep the design balanced and not too complicated I incorporated two subtle quatrefoil motifs on the lower wings and one on the moth’s head to symbolise the intricate windows found in gothic architecture.

The finished piece turned out exactly as I had envisioned, combining the two themes I love the most.

The standard price does not include a sterling silver necklace. Instead, the pendant comes with a faux leather cord. Many people already have silver necklaces at home, which can easily be paired with this pendant for a personalized touch. We apply this principle to all pendants where the design allows it, thanks to the inclusion of a bail. Please note that this option does not apply to every necklace design.
